Why Can"t I Just Be Happy? A Realistic Approach To Happiness by Rolf Nabb Download PDF EPUB FB2

"Why can't I just be happy?" We've all asked ourselves this question from time to time and we've all wondered why it's so hard. Considering that you probably include yourself in the vast majority of what I'll refer to as "us," you probably find yourself wondering this from time to time as well.

The photographs in this book are amazing. They feature bright, colorful, joyful young people diverse in age, size, and ethnicity. Because I had fun reading this book, I am an official Happy Helper.

My duty as a Happy Helper is to pass this book along and spread happiness. YAY!/5. It helps explain why when people are unable to eat at five-star restaurants, they get used to cooking at home, and actually seem to be just as happy as the people eating at the five-star restaurants.

Why We Can't Sleep: because we stayed up all night reading this book. This book spoke to me so much--and I recognize, at 41 (the same age as the author when she was writing it), I was among the intended audience--so, for me, it hit home in many ways, both personally and thinking back to what I experienced and observed growing up/5.

The book is similar to Psychobabble: Exploding the myths of the self help generation by Dr Stephen Briers but I think Oliver Burkeman's book is the better of the two, it could just be personal preference but I think the pace of Cited by:   “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” — Mahatma Gandhi.

The secret to true and lasting contentment is learning how to spend your by: 2. According to Aristotle, happiness consists in achieving, through the course of a whole lifetime, all the goods — health, wealth, knowledge, friends, etc.

The book remains true to its title. It is really meant for the people who can't stand 'positive thinking', 'cult of optimism' kind of approaches to happiness.

What this book does is that it shows a new and counter-intuitive approach to happiness- NEGATIVE PATH to HAPPINESS/5(). This has made happiness pretty trendy. The science of happiness made the covers of Time, Oprah, and even The Economist, and it has spawned a small industry of motivational speakers, psychotherapists, and research website, Greater Good, features roughly articles about happiness, and its parenting blog is specifically about.

What makes a thought feel real is the attention we bring to it. We make a thought into a solid object by focusing on it and relating to it as if it is an event happening in the world somewhere.

So although positive psychology surely has a useful role to play for some of us, it just as surely has its limits. And for some people, a purely positive approach to everyday life. Problem #3: Goals restrict your happiness. The implicit assumption behind any goal is this: “Once I reach my goal, then I’ll be happy.” The problem with a goals-first mentality is that you’re continually putting happiness off until the next milestone.

I’ve slipped into. 15 Things You Must Give Up to Be Happy Again. I have 5 beautiful children and a loving and caring wife that I am thankful for.

Happiness. It is a term that is taken for granted in this modern age. However, since the dawn of time, philosophers have been pursuing the inquiry of happiness after all, the purpose of life is not just to live, but to live ‘well’.

Author: Teresa Preston. Write down what happiness means to you. Because this is your happiness, it is important to frame what it means for you to be happy. There are many ways to get your ideas down, just make sure you do. In properly defining what you mean when you imagine your internal happiness, you give yourself a solid goal.

Since giving up alcohol, I've had numerous moments of true happiness. I'd imagined I was happy drinking, but I'd been kidding myself. My head was continually filled with guilt, shame and anxiety about how to get the next glass of wine without anyone thinking I was an old lush.
